Vehicle Fire

Around 0500hrs units were dispatched to a vehicle fire in the Meadows at Manakin. Bystanders advised they heard an explosion, and found a car fully involved. S17 and E31 responded from the cut job on 288. S17 arrived on scene and found 1 car fully involved in the roadway. S17's crew stretched an 1 3/4 hand line from E31 and extinguished the fire. All units returned to service.

MVA with entrapment

Around 0430hrs units were dispatched to 288 SB for a MVA rollover, bystanders advised they could hear moaning coming from the overturned vehicle. R33 arrived on scene and advised they had 1 occupant still in the vehicle. E31 and S17 stabilized and extricated the victim from the car removing the driver side doors. Due to the ETA of Med-Flight the driver was transported to MCV Hospital by R33. Units remained on the scene for traffic control. S17 and E31 cleared the scene and responded to the car fire in the Meadows.

Around 1200hrs units were dispatched to a MVA at the intersection in front of Hermitage Country Club. R33 arrived on scene with 2 vehicles that had T-boned in the intersection. The driver had self extricated himself out of the passenger side. S17 arrived and controlled leaks, E31 assisted with traffic control. R33 obtained 1 patient refusal. All units returned to service.

Structure Fire

At around 10:00 AM units were dispatched to a structure fire on Manakin Road. Engine 11 arrived to find a large barn fully involved. Due to limited water supply, E11's crew stretched an 1 3/4 inch hand line to extinguish the fire and protect exposed buildings until a water shuttle could be established. Once the shuttle was set up, the main body of fire was attacked. Intense heat required an extensive rehab operation, and some crews remained on scene as late as 5 PM cleaning up. No animals, civilians, or firefighters were injured.

Structure Fire

A citizen walked in to Station 3 reporting a possible fire nearby on Broad Street. Upon seeing a column of smoke developing to their west, members asked communications to dispatch a full structural assignment to the area. Engine 11, Tanker 16, Squad 17, and Rescue 10 responded along with units from Companies 3 and 2 for a garage found to be heavily involved in fire. Manpower from the units helped extinguished the fire while the engine and tanker set up a water shuttle from a distant site since no hydrants are in the area.

With multiple ambulances already on calls, Goochland Communications received reports of a two vehicle collision on Broad Street in the western end of the county. Callers advised that one vehicle was overturned with two people entrapped and possibly unconscious. Rescue 10 was sent as the second ambulance. During their response to the scene, 10 was redirected to set up the landing zone for Medflight. Once landed, 10 brought the Medflight medics to the scene and assisted in patient care. 10 transported one patient back to the landing zone to be flown to VCU's trauma center.

Manakin units responded to a RV fire on 288. Arrived on scene with a fully involved RV. E11's crew extinguished the fire, with the help of Powhatan units. All units cleared.

Rollover on 288 Offramp

Companies 1 and 3 were dispatched to a single vehicle accident on the Eastbound Patterson Ave exit from Rt 288. Rescue 10 was first arriving and reported one vehicle on its roof with all occupants out. Engine 31 and Rescue 30 were returned to service shortly, while Squad 17 completed the fluid clean-up. The vehicle's driver refused medical evaluation.


 
2 Vehicle Accident

At around 1800hrs Manakin units were dispatched to a 2 vehicle accident on Hermitage Rd with entrapment, R33 arrived with 2 vehicles in the road and 1 patient who was not trapped. S17 arrived and assisted with removal of the patient and fluid control. R10 obtained patient refusals and 1 patient was transported to the trauma center.
